For: woodwind quintet: (flute, oboe, clarinet in Bb, bassoon, Horn in F)
This quintet essentially a celebration of counterpoint. One of my earliest musical memories is one of voices moving with and against one another. It was Bach, of course. My music has never sounded remotely like Bach, but the influence has always been there at an increasingly deep level. It’s both technically challenging and fun to hear. I’ve dedicated it Theodore Antoniou, the most important of my teachers.
Three Scenes was premiered as part of the Intermezzo series in Salt Lake City on July 31 of 2023. Performers were:
